- Pilots must have their current and valid United States Hang gliding Association, Inc.
(USHGA) membership card and their current and valid Jackson Hole Paragliding Club, (JHPC)
membership card on hand to present to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Guest Service
Center or Ticket Office prior to riding the tram. No exceptions will be made. Foreign
pilots must acquire a USHGA membership.
- All pilots are required to have a valid lift or sightseeing ticket.
- Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a minimum P III site, (unless conditions dictate a
higher rating). The only exception to this is if a P2 pilot is with an approved
instructor. Both pilots must produce USHGA and JHPC membership cards. A copy of this list
will be maintained in the Guest Service Center.
- All pilots must obey their class limitations. All pilots must fly with a helmet and a
reserve parachute. A radio, (frequency 151.715), is highly recommended.
- Pilots are responsible for determining the flying window.
- Canopy layout and takeoffs must not interfere with skiers or snowboarders.
- Rendezvous Bowl Launch: Keep your layout above or below the traverses across the top of
the bowl.
- Tower Three Launch: Keep your layout to the skiers' left edge of Grand Run. There will
be one launch at a time. Pilots waiting to launch will be above the layouts directing
skier traffic and giving the O.K. to launch. Ensure that there are not skiers below you
before launching.
- No paragliding or hang gliding will be allowed from any other access, (gondola, lifts).
- Pilots must stay at least 200 feet away from any lifts or buildings on the mountain.
During the summer pilots cannot overfly the horse concession or riding trails while on
approach to the LZ.
- No advance maneuvers are allowed.
- All pilots must land at the designated Landing Zones listed below:
- The summer LZ is the Snake River Ranch property adjacent to Ellen Creek and McCollister
Drive.
- The winter LZ is the Nordic Center on north side of the Teton village Access Road.
- The only tandem paragliding allowed is with Corporation sponsored Two Can Fly
Paragliding. No solicitation is permitted.
- The following applies for Tram use:
- Solo pilots must wait in the regular Tram maze with their equipment. Hang gliders may
drop their equipment on the dock but must check in with a Tram Operator.
- Tram Operations reserves the right to limit the number of fliers on each car and the
right to allow bags inside or loaded on top of each car.
- Winter: A maximum of two pilots and their equipment will be allowed on a full tram car.
Hang gliders will be taken up on pre-public cars. Tower Three stops will be permitted on
cars that run before and after public operating hours. During the winter the last car down
is at 3:45. Pilots taking a car after 3:00 must have their skis in case the window closes.
Launches must be accomplished before Ski Patrol sweep leaves the top.
- Conservatism, safety and good judgement are emphasized at this site.
